MILLER'S TALE : Sylvie Courvoisier – Evan Parker – Mark Feldman – Ikue Mori
| Sylvie Courvoisier (piano)
| Mark Feldman (violin)
| Evan Parker (Soprano & Tenor Saxophone)
| Ikue Mori ( Electronics)

Miller's Tale is the high point of the collaboration of the distinctive musicians Sylvie Courvoisier, Mark Feldman, Evan Parker and Ikue Mori. Henning Bolte writes in the liner notes: "Our ears usually first adhere to the known, the familiar. But they 'squint' to something thrilling, to beautifully disturbing things, something extra to enjoy as listeners. Its attractiveness is strongly related to the quality of the known/unknown interweaving in the music. The sensible pleasure of the four musicians in Miller's Tale offers numerous arousing moments to personally connect with the music."

Sylvie Courvoisier & Mark Feldman DUO
| Mark Feldman (violin)
| Sylvie Courvoisier (piano)

Celebrating their 20 Years anniversary !

The violin piano duo of Courvoisier Feldman performs their own original music and the music of John Zorn. Being influence by jazz, free improvisation and 20th century music, this duo has created an unique sonic signature developing their own vocabulary for improvisation.
Calling these duets simply chamber music, would be selling them short, writes Andrew Bartlett. The music gallops through genres, all of which is touched uniquely by Feldman and Courvoisier's mix of sharp jazz chops, 20th-century chamber music, and traditional music of multiple stripes.
The Duo has been working together since 20 years. Since 1997, they have been performing regularly in the USA, Canada and toured widely in Europe (played in Festivals such as Willisau, Saalfelden, Mulhouse, Berlin, Shaffhouse, Muenster, Bath , Vancouver, Bordeaux, Madrid)
Anthony Tommasini of The New York Times wrote of their Premiere of John Zorn's Bagatelles: "The brilliant jazz and contemporary music violinist Mark Feldman joined the adventurous Swiss-born pianist Sylvie Courvoisier. In every piece, these dynamic, fearless performers eventually broke into frenzied episodes that sounded anything but trifling." .

choc

« d'une richesse et diversité inouïes : maitrise irréprochablement classique, lyrisme d'un romantisme sans pathos, cantabile polychronique, suspens, silences, zigzags, étirements et sollicitations des ailleurs instrumentaux d'une absolue modernité. Soit un équilibre inespéré entre rigueur et excès au grès d'une succession contrastée d'essences, évanouies et regrettées a peines exhalée ... »

Three of downtown's most dynamic performers join forces to form Mephista-one of the first all women supergroups (Susie Ibarra, Sylvie Courvoisier, and Ikue Mori). Separately these three have worked with some of the most important musicians in new music (Derek Bailey, William Parker, John Zorn, Fred Frith, Mike Patton, Dave Douglas, etc.)-together they have created a whole new kind of music spanning the worlds of rock, classical, jazz and electronica. Sensitive, powerful and exotic.
